Abstract
For newcomers   learning the language of the host country helps them in their process of   integration. This is the case of immigrant women in Quebec, although many   challenges await them. Still, they are active and motivated about language   learning. This article presents a study of the linguistic trajectory of nine   immigrant women enrolled in a French language program in Quebec. Using the   approach of the language biography, semi-structured interviews and a learning   diary kept for four months, we interviewed nine immigrant women enrolled and   enrolled in full-time French courses about their contact time with the French   language the spoken languages in the classroom in Quebec and at home, their   networks of friends and social activities. Overall, these women are proactive   and adjust depending on where they are, the Other and current issues.
